Week of 3rd April - 11th April 2004 - HOLY WEEK
Palm Sunday
- Confessions - Monday and
Tuesday at 7:00 to 7:30 pm, Friday 12-1pm after Stations Saturday
11:15am - 12 noon and at request.
- Children's First Confession - Monday, Tuesday and Friday at
6:00 pm
- Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual
Succour is NOT held during Lent.
- The Sanctuary Lamp will burn this week for Francis Neafcy
- Early Mass is available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:15am
Please make an effort to come.
- Stations of the Cross on
Tuesday afternoon at 2.30pm.
- Mass of Chrism On Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Cathedral, all will
be present and renew their priestly commitment. The Archbishop will bless
oils to be used throughout the diocese for Sacraments in the coming year.
All parishioners are welcome to attend.
- Parish Lottery - It has been suggested that we begin a 100 Club to
assist development of the Parish Centre. The proceeds will be divided 50%
for prizes and 50% for the Development Fund. Money will be used only for
development and providing fuller facilities for parish use and for repayment
of the loan for the upgrading of the Club.
- Organ Recital and Festival of Song - John Walton and Louise Dean -
our Christmas Soloist. Sunday April 18th at 3.30pm.
- Songs of Praise - Ashton Churches together - are holding their
annual Songs of Praise in our church on April 29 at 7.30pm.
- Hospital - If and when any relative is admitted to hospital,
please ensure that his/her religion is registered and that the visit of a
priest is required. We cannot always rely on the hospital staff to fulfil
the obligation to meet the spiritual needs of the patient.
- Archdiocesan Ladywell Pilgrimage - Saturday 29 May. If anyone
is interested, please let me know
- Application forms for Club Manager/Steward - available from Fr. Reynolds.
- Durham (Kings College) Newcastle and Northumbria Universities Catholic
Chaplaincy 50th Anniversary Celebrations - 'Two events are planned to
mark this occasion and we would ask that any past students will get in touch
to celebrate one or both of these events with us.' Please see the notice in
the porch for details.
- Boyce and Stanley Concert Tour 04 - Sunday 9 May , The Great
Hall , Liverpool Hope University 7pm: 0151 522 1045
- 'Places to Visit' - an informative and helpful guide to shrines,
retreat centres and places of historic significance : £2.50 with the
newspapers.
- At Risk - the lives of elderly and sick people and those with
disabilities !! - New laws are being proposed to promote euthanasia.
Please tell your MP to oppose euthanasia by neglect.
- CONGRATULATIONS - to Jim and Teresa Whalley who celebrate their
30th Anniversary and Michael and Clair McGrane who were married here
recently.
- Please pray for Peter Rowlands who died recently,
and for the comfort of his family and friends who mourn
