- Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual
Succour - Wednesday at 7:30 pm. please come and honour your spirtual
Mother.
- The Sanctuary Lamp will burn this week in memory of Thomas Cummins.
There are some vacancies for the Sanctuary Lamp in September and October.
Please make your requests for the Lamp and for Masses as soon as possible.
- No Flower Arranging

Walsingham - I have received a letter from Fr Wynn, Director of
the shrine, thanking the pilgrims for their generous donation of £440 towards
the new chapel. He assures us of their prayers and remembrances. Thanks to
you all.
- Graveyard - Plot 1 has been turfed and looks well. Most people
seem pleased and satisfied! The maintenance of this area and the other lawns
will be costly and therefore I will be looking for an annual charge to cover
it. It has been suggested that we look for a contractor to maintain the
graveyard. Anybody interested please contact me for details.
- Parish Lottery: Winners were £150 - Roy and Carol; 99; £75 -
Mr and Mrs Schorah 69; £50 - John Cross;71; £35 - Mr and Mrs A Johnston;
25 ; £22.50 - Mrs Young;127. Once again we have five lucky people enjoying
their membership in our Parish Lottery. Why not join? Packets of envelopes
are at the back of church for your subscription. Next draw is Sunday,
26th September.
- Tea Dance - Monday 6 September in the Parish Centre.
- 1st Ashton Scout Group are holding a 'Brunch' on Saturday 11
September in St Thomas' Hall, Warrington Road 11am - 2pm. Don't forget to
call in for a snack when you are shopping in Ashton next weekend.
- Catholic Papers A new edition of the Catholic Pictorial begins in
September. A limited number of copies will be ordered and reserved for
those who wish to buy one. Don't forget, the Universe and Catholic Times are
available each week. Buy one and read the other side of the news and events
which is NEVER in the mass media!
- New Catholic Pictorial There are plenty of copies. Please buy
one and let me know what you think.
- Wigan and Leigh Hospice 21st Anniversary Thanksgiving Service will
be held at St Benedict's Church, Hindley on Sunday 12 September at 3.00pm.
- When making your will, please remember Our Lady's Restoration Fund.
- When any relative is admitted to hospital, please ensure that his/her
religion is registered and that the visit of a priest is required. We
cannot always rely on the hospital staff to fulfil the obligation to meet
the spiritual needs of the patient.
