Week of 16th October - 24th October 2004
- Welcome !! to Lucy Mia Arnold, Oliver Joseph
Bassett and Joseph Ronald James who were recently baptised into our
community.
- Confessions - Saturday
11:15 - 12 noon. Also after 7pm Mass and of course on request.
- Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual
Succour - Wednesday at 7:30 pm. please come and honour your spirtual
Mother.
- The Sanctuary Lamp will burn this week in memory of Harry &
Anne Rose.
- Flower Arranging - Wednesday 1.30pm : Planting Baskets.
- October Rosary - Please be aware that a plenary indulgence has been
decreed to be given to any person saying the Rosary in Church before the reposed
Blessed Sacrament, or as a family, on each day in the month of October.
Therefore please do try and come to say the Rosary each day before Mass.
- Closing Mass of our Centenary Year Bishop Vincent Malone will
celebrate Mass on Thursday 21 October at 7.30pm. Please make this a priority
and keep it in your diaries. Join us afterwards in the Centre for a
celebration.
- Mass and Anointing of the Sick - for all the sick of the parish
will take place on Sunday 24 October at 2.00pm. Should any parishioner who
is not on our sick list but because of ill health would wish to be anointed,
please do come along. Volunteers for transport are required. Eucharistic
Ministers will be required to be on duty to assist.
- Autumn / Centenary Fayre Sunday 7 November at 1.00pm in the
Parish Centre. We will be having a Grand Prize Raffle with ten prizes.
Tickets are 5 for £1 and will be on sale before and after Mass. Please give
this your support.
- Sunday 24 October - As a parish we are invited to celebrate
Evensong with Rev. D. Abbott, Rector of Holy Trinity and his parishioners at
6.30pm. Please make a note of the date.
- Flower Arranging Wednesday 1.30pm. This week : a Basket Arrangement
- Parish Centre Each week there is Bingo on Thursday, Line Dancing
on Wednesday and Keep Fit on Monday. Weekend brings a variety of
entertainment of good taste and good quality. It is also the ideal venue for
family celebrations. Please give it your support.
- Parish Lottery Winners in September were : £150 - G. Hughes; 39;
£75 - Stan Sudworth 83; £50 - Mrs I. Green 15; £3 - J. Doherty; 6 ;
£10 - J Walsh;109 Next draw is on 31 October.
- Churches Together Quiz Night Friday 19 November in our Parish
Centre. Tickets £2.50 inc. hot Pot Supper. No more than 6 members on each
team. We have an allocation of 12 tickets to begin with - more may become
available if other churches don't use all of theirs. Please put your name on
the list in the porch and we will be in touch with you. Come on! Let's show
the other churches where the brains are !!
- Centenary Souvenirs We purchased 144 china mugs and 100 Tea Towels
to commemorate our churches centenary. So far we have sold just 40 mugs and
50 Tea Towels. Have you bought yours yet? What about a friend or relative who
has moved away; wouldn't they like a souvenir of the church from which they
started out? (I know for a fact that one Tea Towel has found a home in
Canada!) Mugs are £4.50 and Tea Towels £3.20.Please show your commitment
and pride in Our Lady's Church - you certainly do not have any at home like
these and it will be a long time before we are entitled to celebrate
anything of this nature again!
- Christmas cards, calendars and diaries are now available at the Piety
Stall.
- Marriage Preparation Course Would anyone volunteer to attend a
Marriage Preparation Course for training at Our Lady of the Assumption,
Gatacre Liverpool: 7 - 9pm on Mondays 8, 15, 22,29 November and 6 December
and then assist in providing a Marriage Preparation Course annually in and
for the parish? Please see me if you would.
- World Youth Day. Cologne 2005. 10 - 22 August 2005. An
unforgettable experience, over 1 million young people from 160 nations take
part in this unique pilgrimage led by the Holy Father. Cost:£475. Sponsorship
is available. If interested, please see Fr Reynolds.
- Lourdes Youth Pilgrimage 2005 Friday 29 July - Saturday 6 August.
Applications from Fr Reynolds.
- Lourdes One-day Pilgrimage by air from Manchester on 8 December .
Cost: £189. See notice for details.
- National Parents' Week : 25 - 31 October See sheet in the porch

- Macmillan Afternoon Tea held on Friday 1 October. A very large
and sincere thank you and well done to all the 'cake makers', 'raffle ticket
buyers', 'money donators' and 'time givers' who made it possible to raise
the grand sum of £323.21. All raffle prizes have been claimed and
delivered.
- When making your will, please remember Our Lady's Restoration Fund.
- When any relative is admitted to hospital, please ensure that his/her
religion is registered and that the visit of a priest is required. We
cannot always rely on the hospital staff to fulfil the obligation to meet
the spiritual needs of the patient.
