Week of 20th - 28th November 2004

  • Confessions - Saturday 11:15 - 12 noon. Also after 7pm Mass and of course on request.
  • Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour - Wednesday at 7:30 pm. please come and honour your spirtual Mother.
  • The Sanctuary Lamp will burn this week in memory of Father James Glenholme.
  • Patronal Feast - Wednesday 8 December There will be Solemn Mass to celebrate our Patronal feast. The Arrowsmith Singers will sing the Mass and the Rev. David Abbott, Rector of Holy Trinity, will preach. Please put this date in your diaries.
  • Parish Centre - There will be a meeting in the Parish Centre on Wednesday 24 November at 8.30pm . All are welcome.
  • Year of Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Pope John Paul II has declared 2004 - 2005 a year of special devotion to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The two local Deaneries of Wigan and Ashton are taking part in a week of Continuous Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament beginning on Sunday 28 November - the first Sunday of Advent. Adoration will be in Our Lady's from 12 midnight till 12 noon on Monday 29 November. The Watching List is at the back of the church. Please sign up. I remind Eucharistic Ministers of their duties at this time.
  • Carol Service - Sunday 19 December at Holy Trinity
  • Autumn / Centenary Fayre Sunday 7 November at 1.00pm in the Parish Centre. We will be having a Grand Prize Raffle with ten prizes. Tickets are 5 for £1 and will be on sale before and after Mass. Please give this your support.
  • Carols by Candlelight - Wednesday 22 December 7.15pm at St Andrews Mission Hall.
  • Church Cleaning All visitors to the church remark about its beauty and cleanliness. It must be remembered that it takes time to keep it so. I am most grateful for the band of Seraphim Ladies who clean the church week by week. Could you spare one hour per week? If so, call me.
  • Bingo!! Sunday at 8pm in the Parish Centre. Please support.
  • "The Blessed Mary, Mother of God" This booklet, the first of a series, shows how different cultures and painters have portrayed the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God; Price: £10.99. If you are interested, please contact Fr Reynolds.
  • Churches Together Quiz Night Friday 19 November in our Parish Centre. Tickets £2.50 inc. hot Pot Supper. No more than 6 members on each team. We have an allocation of 12 tickets to begin with - more may become available if other churches don't use all of theirs. Please put your name on the list in the porch and we will be in touch with you. Come on! Let's show the other churches where the brains are !!

  • When making your will, please remember Our Lady's Restoration Fund.
  • When any relative is admitted to hospital, please ensure that his/her religion is registered and that the visit of a priest is required. We cannot always rely on the hospital staff to fulfil the obligation to meet the spiritual needs of the patient.
