Week of 24th July - 1st August 2004

  • Confessions - Saturday 11:15 - 12 noon. Also after 7pm Mass and of course on request.
  • Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour - Wednesday at 7:30 pm. I do encourage you all to come and honour Our Lady - our most Blessed Mother.
  • The Sanctuary Lamp will burn this week for Vocations. Please place your requests for Masses and the Sanctuary Lamp as soon as possible.
  • Centenary Celbrations - Parish Social Well done to all who planned and organised the event. Congratulations to Jeanette, our new Centre Manager, for a wonderful buffet. May I also say how much I appreciate the loyalty of those parishioners who came plus our guests from St Wilfred's parish.
  • No Flower Arranging This Week
  • Tea Dance: Monday 2 August
  • Parish Centre: Keep Fit, Line Dancing, Bingo. Please come and use your Centre
  • Little Church: During the Summer Holidays the Little Church is not in operation. My thanks to all those good people who organise and care for our young people each week. New members are welcome.
  • Marriage in Our Lady's: Anyone who has planned and booked a date for 2005/2006 and not yet confirmed the date, please contact Fr Reynolds as soon as possible.
  • Wigan and Leigh Hospice - 20k for 20k Anniversary Walk Sunday 19 September 2004. There are other walks if you can't manage 20k ! Please see the leaflet in the porch for details.
  • Parish Lottery: Next draw Sunday 9pm in the Centre. Remember : You can't win it if you're not in it !! Have YOU paid your subscription?
  • Walsingham Pilgrimage - Final payments are now due to Pam Hughes or Fr Reynolds: Sue Ryder Hospice £106, Pilgrims Hospice £83.
  • Youth 2000 Prayer Festival 2004 26 - 30 August in Walsingham. Join 1000's of other young catholics living their faith and having fun. Sponsorship available. See Fr Reynolds.
  • Days of Recollection at the Don Orione House of Prayer, Upholland on Sunday 5 September and Saturday 25 September. These days are for all, especially Eucharistic Ministers and Readers and others in the parish. Spend a quiet day in peace to renew your inner self among the rolling fields of Lancashire. 10am - 5pm. £5. Please bring a packed lunch. Sign up at the back of church.
  • Praise in the Park This was a wonderful occasion with over 150 people there. The collection raised £332.20 for McMillan Nurses.
  • Hospital If and when any relative is admitted to hospital, please ensure that his/her religion is registered and that the visit of a priest is required. We cannot always rely on the hospital staff to fulfil the obligation to meet the spiritual needs of the patient.
  • When making your will, please remember Our Lady's Restoration Fund.
