Our Lady's Church
And so, we are called to be 'living stones making a spiritual house'
1 Peter 2:5
No-one who enters Our Lady’s Church leaves without having been struck by the beauty of the building. And yet, we know that the building is only meant to be a symbol of the faith with which we give glory and praise to God each time we gather as a community.
Since 1903, our Church has stood as a symbol of the faith of the people in this part of the Archdiocese of Liverpool, seeking always to share that faith with all who pass by. I hope this website will go some way in portraying the strength of that faith and the beauty of our Church, and assure you of a warm welcome whether as a visitor or should you wish to join us for any of our services.
With every blessing,
Fr John Gorman
As a church we want to be free to use our funds in the best possible way to enable our mission and ministry in Our Lady Immaculate to flourish. This includes caring for our biggest physical resource – the Church itself – as a place of worship and prayer, and as a place people come to for events and activities as well as for groups and organisations . It also includes heating and lighting and our contribution to the Parish Share. We work hard to keep our spending down, with annual reviews of energy and maintenance costs, seeking competitive quotes for work undertaken, and challenging ourselves in our ways of working to avoid waste. Our costs are kept down dramatically by all the work done by our congregation and others in the community free of charge.
